Greetings:
It's a pleasure and honor to serve the students at RRex Parris High School. This is my 23rd year with the Antelope Valley High School District and 35th year of public service in education. Prior to working in education, I served faithfully and honorably in the U.S. Marine Corps.
As an educator, my goal is to educate all my students about the importance of learning and understanding the field of Social Sciences (World History, U.S. History, Civics, and Economics) as required courses for a high school diploma in the State of California. I use lectures, discussion questions, and research base projects in my classes to help students understand the courses. I want students to learn how to analyze historical events (past) and extrapolate its effects on contemporary issues (present). I feel it’s a good way to make learning meaningful and it could help students connect the past with the present.
Finally, I try to instill effective learning/study skills, strong work habits, and good citizenship/character that can help students in their future academic and employment endeavors after high school. It's important to educate our young adults to become intellectual good people with good character because one day, they will be in a position to lead our country in a direction that benefits our society and humanity.
Sincerely,
Dr. Alex M. Arcega
